Last night, my wife and I celebrated our pre-anniversary (the actual one is today) and really just wanted a good excuse to open a bottle of wine. We picked up this great Macrae Family Winery cabernet at the Family Wineries Tasting Room in Sonoma on a recent wine country trip. This is a great spot to find small vineyard wines that don’t have their own tasting rooms. For those not familiar with the Stagecoach vineyard, it is truly world class. I’ve had amazing Zins and Cabs from Stagecoach and this one fits the bill. I found some bright summer cherry, deep cocoa with a really smooth finish. It’s not a bargain, but for $55, this is still a good priced Napa cab that I would definitely buy again.
