If you find yourself anywhere in the vicinity of Brigantine, NJ, say you’re going to a show at the Borgata (as we were last night), skip the overpriced, fancy spots and go over the bridge to L’Aragosta (3400 Brigantine Boulevard, Brigantine, NJ 08203-1053). The room is basic, but the food is perfect – served by true Italians (our server was from Sicily and his family runs the place). Our starters, soups and salads were good, but the entrees stole the show. I enjoyed the Linguine del mare which included fresh clams, scallops, crab meat and shrimp tossed in a fresh, light white wine sauce. The pasta was cooked to perfection and seasoning was spot-on. My wife’s gnocchi was homemade with love as was their gravy. This was some serious tomato sauce which I would have eaten plain, but the tender gnocchi were the perfect vessel to transport it properly. If they would sell it, I’d happily buy that sauce and use it at home instead of anything in a jar. Next time I’m at the shore, I will certainly return.
