For a large family dinner, we took over half of Aperto last week – 13 of us! This spot, located on quaint Potrero Hill (1434 18th Street) is a humble restaurant serving cal-inspired Italian dishes. To me, and based on my meal, the star of the night was the milk-braised pork shank served with root vegetables. I didn’t need a knife to eat my entire meal (and it wasn’t rude either). The meat was juicy and tender – evident of the slow cooking and then the chef-finished process oft-used in restaurants for braised meats. It’s a delicate one and Aperto executed it perfectly.
