We received this Priorat as a gift from my Aunt who deserves much of the credit for my interest in food and wine. She has great taste and always encouraged me to try interesting foods. This Priorat is interesting as well; it’s a blend of Garnacha, Carinena, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah, but was not aged in oak which changes the flavor profile completely. It’s also ready to drink now. These grapes provide a bit of raisin initially and quite a bit of fruit on the mid-palate. While it is quite a dark color, it’s not nearly as big of a flavor profile as a similar oak-aged wine might provide. Wine is so interesting due to the variety across regions, countries, grapes, and aging techniques which provide a unique experience with every new bottle.
