Chateau St Jean California Cabernet Sauvignon 2009: Goes Well With a View of Lake Travis

We spent labor day weekend with a great group of friends at the Palms on Lake Travis, a great house rental right on the lake.  The owners donated 2 bottles of this Chateau St Jean California Cab (to our cause of having a great time) and it was greatly appreciated.  On a side-note, this is an amazing property with great amenities in a fantastic location and the owners couldn’t be easier to work with or be more helpful.

This is a typical California blend wine, meaning that the grapes are sourced from anywhere in California and the flavor profile is reflective of that: some fruit, some dry, a little berry and a bit of mint on the finish.  This cab is quite approachable, and for about $12, it will stand up to a steak, good chocolate, or by itself on the deck with friends…which is how I enjoyed it – cheers to all.
